Changed landline number

Rang virgin as getting bad nuisance calls. Someone has used our number for a loan how I don't know but they are constantly ringing for money. So asked for new number told to ring 174 or 175 after 48 hrs after 8pm . No such number can anyone help. Trying to speak to someone at virgin is awful
