Hi. Two days ago I complained online to VM about my poor speed. They made various excuses then have me a cheap upgrade to M500 from M250. I now have just under 100 download, is this usual or have they screwed up again? How long does an upgrade normally take? Thanks in advance.
are you testing by wire? is the link speed 1Gb or 100Mb?

That would be why your speed is slow is the cable from your PC to the hub or do you have a switch or powerline? or is this from a laptop? suggest this if your laptop had a 100Mb port
suggest you get better cables
If that means your link rate from the computer to the Hub is 100Mbps that is your problem, the computer needs to support 1Gbps and needs to have speed set to Auto.
It went up to 250 a few minutes ago but my post has vanished. It is now back to 97 and most websites are not resolving.
There is nothing wrong with my equipment, the problem is with VM. I just wanted to know if it was a common problem and how long it would take to resolve.
This is all wrong. I had 250Mb via Cat8 cable to a Gigabit capable computer.
Virgin upgraded me to 500Mb but the speed dropped to 97Mb.
That happened two days ago, but since posting this the speed has increased to almost 250Mb. Almost as if VM are reading this.
BUT... it should be 500Mb, no doubt that's what they will charge me for.
This is not the fault of my equipment or me.
Update: It's now dropped to 60. They gave me a new contact so I guess I can cancel it without charge and get rid of them once and for all.
I think your CAT8 cable is faulty you have said your link speed is 100Mb when it should show 1Gb
but it is possible the Ethernet ports are faulty but its more simple to test a new cable
