Gig1 Hourly tests

Is it possible for a moderator to please look into my hourly testing it is doing my tree in, streaming to YouTube / twitch and playing games is constantly interrupted via lag spikes and sometimes packet loss due to the testing.

  • It looks to me like you have a Hub 5x. The  hourly spikes are likely to be automated speed tests at VM's end. Good luck with trying to get them stopped.

VM know how to run a stable internet connection...then destroy it

I’m still well within my 14 day cool off and trying to get them removed before then otherwise I’ll be pulling my notice and staying on openreach 1.6Gb! It’s so frustrating

Yeah some have managed it but it's a hassle and will likely take longer than 14 days. If you have OR FTTP then switch back.

  • Had the same issue, but on 2gig. It would literrally d/c me for a few ms everyhour odd.

They eventually turned it off for my connection, they were meant to be fixing it foreveryone though? they are aware of it. Ref: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2024/08/virgin-media-uk-working-to-fix-ping-spikes-on-2gbps-broadband-lines.html

how did you get them to turn it off for you? I've given my notice to cancel (under 14 days)

only chance of me staying is if they turn it off before my service terminates.

I emailed the CEO and that deperatment sorted it for me. they clearly aware of the issue,  suprised they haven't sorted it. looks like they stopped it now?

mine looked to look like that with the sawtooth effect, but when I went live and got a new hub, the sawtooth disapeared.

        Mine now.

do a ping test to 1.1.1.1 and some speedtests via the windows app to a few different places, razorblue in manchester best for me (am in Scarborough myself)
