Which flipping (polite version) username / password / PIN?

Every time I have an issue with VM and need to login I seem to be entering an incorrect password. No idea why, I have a password manager which usually tells me what I need to enter (one now filled with multiple entries some with copious notes). Quite often I go to sign in to Email and the bookmarked URL doesn't work (usually get an error message, again, I don't know why VM make this difficult everyone else seems to handle it).

So, how many passwords/accounts are there? Could someone from VM just list where I need a particular password or username and for any online services where the actual login page is. For example, and not limited to:

  • Broadband / TV - account
  • Email (blueyonder) (incidentally the username for this now seems to be my Gmail email address, oh wow)
  • Email (blueyonder POP3 settings for Gmail)
  • Virgin Media TV 360 box (need for resetting yet another PIN)
  • Customer Services - telephone username / PIN?
  • VM Community
  • anything I've missed?

Why can't VM just have a single account name for everything and simplify it for all their customers who have a billion other passwords to remember and VM is not the centre of their lives?

Thanks for the response but perhaps I didn't make it clear that I was after the actual URLs. These don't seem to be fixed because every time I use the one I bookmark it never works. 99% of the time I  can never sign in to anything as I never get directed to the right page. And with VM's weird obsession of having so many accounts...

I am back here because having been logged out of my email account I tried logging in and was faced with having to reset my password. I had no idea why but when I looked closely at a point where it asked if I wanted to link my VMO2 account with VM I paused. WTAF?? I never asked for VMO2. Why am I being asked to register and then link it?

Why can't VM just keep things simple? A single page, with a simple URL like EVERY OTHER BLOODY WEBSITE IN THE WORLD! Why over engineer? It is so incredibly frustrating. I occasionally need to sign in to email to check if a message has been received when the Gmail 'check mail' function doesn't work.

I actually don't think anyone at VM Mail has a clue as to how to provide a simple login page. So, literally clueless. I cannot recommend VM Mail to anyone but as I migrate all my login details to Gmail hopefully I can be free of the woeful tech set up that only VM Mail staff seem to understand. Rant over.

So, the solution is to just leave Virgin Media mail entirely as the hassle and inconvenience is not worth it.

I agree that it can be rather confusing.

My Virgin Media account username is usually a third party email address that you have set together with the account password.  I say usually because this month VM have changed some accounts back to using the original email address as username.  You will have been notified if this applies to your account.

    VM webmail as above.

Email via an email client/ app such as Thunderbird use the email address and app generated password

Customer services use the memorable word that you set when you opened the account.

Community Forum is entirely separate to your VM account and the username is whatever you have chosen

Thanks Graham, glad I'm not the only one who finds it confusing. My biggest issues are that whenever I try the password I think I have set it never works. Or the bookmarked sign-in pages don't work, even with a password manager. I really don't understand why VM can't keep it simple, eg, have a single username and password for all services.

I guess someone high-up in VM thinks all their customers think their lives revolve around VM. So if someone from VM can confirm all the different services and which usernames work for what part that would be great so I can get on with more important stuff and not waste significant chunks of time pulling my hair out and re-setting things umpteen times.

Perhaps I didn't make it clear in my post but I have set out for you the combinations you need to use.

I also had an email saying they were changing back to original email address as username, however, I have been speaking to them numerous times over the Oops cannot login issue and they have said I should still be using the third party email username and they are not aware of them changing back even an email was sent ???
