Virgin Media TV box

Hi - if I order a VM TV and Broadband package in an XGS-PON area, what kind of TV box will I receive?

Am I understanding correctly that they no longer offer recording boxes and I will just get a streaming box no matter what package I select?

If so, does it have a kind of "virtual" recordings at least where you can create a list of shows you want to watch and track which ones you watched already automatically?  Does this feature work with all channels e.g. BBC?

Thanks for that - as a follow up:

      • Does the streaming box have a proper EPG where you can watch live channels like BBC, ITV and so on, or does it force you into individual apps per provider?
      • Can you add and remove 30 day rolling options like Sky Cinema or suchlike online, or do you have to phone them up each month?
      • Do the options like Sky Cinema include the Sky Cinema channels, or Sky Cinema on demand, or both?
      • If I understand correct, the only way to watch Sky Atlantic is to stream it from Now TV on a mobile device or just your the smart TV separate from the Virgin box to watch?

You can only use recording boxes on the “traditional” legacy cable networks that carry broadcast TV alongside DOCSIS internet through copper coax cables. Delivery on Stream is IPTV, but still carries all the live linear channels, & all the standard rules for Premium channels such as Sky Cinema apply, so subscription to the channels includes OD content & is 30 days notice. Sky Atlantic is not available on VM, although some of the content is available via OD

The box, now called Apollo, has the same channels as the 360. Here's the guide.

There is a My Watchlist facility. There is no recording capability but catch-up content is delivered either through third-party apps like BBC iPlayer and ITVX as well as VM’s own video on-demand servers. Note that not all programmes are available on catch-up.
