Virgin available at my neighbours but not mine

I live about 20 feet from an address that has available virgin media, I spoke to the salesman that visited their address as it's listed as unavailable at my own address and he said it was an error, signed me up, gave me an installation date so I cancelled my current internet. The team didn't turn up to install it on the date, I now have no internet so when the guy came to install it at my neighbours I questioned him briefly about the availability at my address, he looked at my address and said it was possible through a BT duct. I rang virgin, got nowhere other than being told it wasn't available. I'm sure it's just an oversight on the system as the people who have physically seen my location have said it's definitely possible but it's frustrating going round in circles.

  • You should never believe anything that anyone at Virginmedia tells you.  It will either be ignorance or a lie.

  • Any chance anyone can look into my situation? Very similar. I made a post but received no traction, I have been a bit impatient as it was only last night I made it so apologies

You've made the mistake of cancelling your broadband before getting VM installed. I suggest signing up with an ISP, perhaps on a monthly contract, or getting a MiFi router and a data-only SIM card, until you get clarity as to whether VM can install.

Yeah I realise this, I just trusted the install date. I was on a rolling monthly contract at the end of my previous contract so it was ideal for my situation but I can't reinstate it, very awkward as virgin are the only supplier of fibre in my area but they don't even do copper to my neighbourhood, just the fibre

Almost certainly Openreach provides copper to the house, so there would be a wide range of ISPs providing broadband.
