Telewest internal box

Hi, we are having a room replastered and there is an old and unsightly telewest box mounted above the skirting. The guy working on it said that he’s happy to snip and hide the cables but I wanted to make sure that 1. There won’t be a current, just the equivalent of a co ax cable and 2. It won’t affect our current VM service. Thank you in advance.

No, any cables that are not in use should have a 75 Ohm terminator cap fitted.  Otherwise noise could be introduced not only to your VM circuit, but all the other users on the same street cabinet.  You could get the wiring tided up by VM for a £25 no fault call out fee and the box removed.

  • Hello micromel,

Welcome back to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. As Adduxi has advised, snipping the cable could cause issues with your connection and to that of other users in your area.  I can arrange an appointment from here to get this done; however, I would need to confirm a few details via a private message, which I will drop over in a moment. Please look out for the private message, and we can get started.
    Kind Regards,
