Street Cabinet Removal Request

We have had a box on pavement for years. Unfortunately dogs have been doing toilet around box continually and some owners have not been picking up mess. It is getting beyond a joke and we would really like box removed! We believe box has not been used for years. Please help

Please post some photos of the box, as it could belong to one of a number of companies. As far as the dog fouling is concerned, it is a criminal offence not to clear up after your dog. You should inform the local authority if this is on public land & they will take the appropriate action to find the culprits.

It is definitely owned by Virgin Media as I did my homework and called other companies etc. it is not easy to find owners during night or day. It is when I go to my car nearly standing on it! I do not know who to call or where to leave post as I have been advised this page is not for removal. Can anyone help? Please

A photo would help VM staff to decide what they intend for this box.

That is not like any VM or even any other former cable company cabinet I have ever seen. It looks more like an electrical distribution hub for street lighting.

With telecoms & cable cabinets there will be an access pitt a couple of metres in front of it, which there is no evidence of one being there.

It may be part of an old fully wired REDEFFUSION type cable system. These systems were abandoned in the early 1980s & are nothing to do with VM or it's predecessors, so they won't touch these.

It was here before I moved here. Neighbours said it was Virgin from years ago. I contacted everyone else it could be associated with and nothing to do with anyone. I was just trying to get information. I will contact council and see how I get on. Thanks for your advice.

Yes. I was going to say that the cabinet stands on a patch of concrete that appears to extend to the adjacent lamp post.

Your local Council highways department will have a record of what is there, but I reckon you will have to live with it.
