Removal of internal cable

Virgin

My builders have recently completed an extension to my house where they have left your cable running through a new part of the attic internally.

As the cable is inside the house and exposed, there appears a serious health and safety issue.

Could one of your agents contact me directly please to remedy.

I await hearing from you.

  • If that is cable strung between the houses and run along houses either under the eaves or soffits, then it hasn't been used for decades.

That's exactly where it is strung. Connected to multiple houses in the estate under the eaves/soffets

This is how our British Relay cables looked in the 1970s. When they were closed down the council cut all the links between the houses, but otherwise most of it is still there today. VM does not operate on a daisy chained system, which is 99% underground anyway.

That box is one of the daisy-chained taps and can be removed as well. However if cable or catenary wire between the houses fall to the ground then it's a bigger clearance job for you and/or your neighbour.

I don't think you're going to find anyone willing to take ownership of this cable.

If you find it a nuisance you'll have to get an electrician to check what it is and remove it for you.

That's not VM so you'll have to cut it down yourself
