Relocation of Non-Connected Green cabinet

Good morning,

I have been trying to get permission to Build a drive in front of my house but with no success due to a green Cabinet with copper internet connection situated in front of my house.

A new cabinet has been installed to connect the fibre and this hasn’t been connected yet.

I had a chance to speak to the technician responsible for installing the fibre connection to the cabinet and he told me that eventually the old cabinet will be removed, although it might take a couple of years. But still, it’s good news.

He also explained, from his technical point of view, that right now would be the best time to move the box, as all the fibre cable connection have not been made yet.

I would be more than happy to give space within my property boundaries to Virgin to relocate their box as it would give me the chance to build a drive in my property.

would you be able to help me with this matter?

I would like to speak to whoever is responsible for the placement of these green cabinet.

Thank you in advance

Andrea

    Have you tried here?

    https://www.virginmedia.com/help/diversionaryworks

Past topics describe a non-refundable fee of around £250 for VM to survey and produce a quote for the work.

In all likelihood VM will not want to move any of its cabinets for any reason.

Past topics on here have described VM quotes of 3 or 4 figure sums for simple modifications up to 5 figure sums for more significant work.

    Very Insightful Person

I think he was a bit ambitious telling you the HFC cabinet would be redundant in a couple of years. VM is not due to completely roll out full fibre until the end of 2028. Even then it will take some time to migrate all customers away from the copper coaxial driven services like traditional Cable TV (which cannot be carried on fibre), for which there are still over 3 million users across the UK.
