Old virgin media account was hacked

I have an old email account with virgin media I haven’t touched in years that has been hacked into causing me to lose my instagram aswell. Im wondering if there is any way to delete or recover the email now even though I'm not with virgin media

    We're very sorry to hear your email has been hacked. 

    If you're no longer a customer, we can't recover the mail box, however we can get this deleted.
