It realistically can’t be fixed. The ‘pausing’ is based on a method which is trivially bypassed by every modern device on the planet.

If you have a Hub 5x, almost 3 years after launch, pausing still does not work & never will.

Your app may actually be working as it was originally designed to do many years ago. If your devices are equally old, they might still be blocked by the app.
But for some years now, devices have been designed with a feature that effectively bypasses the pause. And even on older devices the pause can be bypassed by a simple trick which is widely publicised on YouTube and elsewhere.
If you are wanting to stop a device being used on your network, you will need to take physical control of that device.
