Multiple no-shows for external cable fault repair

We are 19yr VM cable customers in the same property and had BB failure in December. Engineer came to replace all internal and house cables then was told it was an external cabling fault. This work has been scheduled 5 times with no action, next date is end of March! Can anyone provide any advice? The main junction box is only 50 yards away. I cannot get any assistance regarding what is happening. Many thanks

  • Hi olivep

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear that external cabling works haven't been completed and keep being pushed back. There can be a few different reasons for this, such as permissions to work on the land not being granted. If the land we need to work on is owned by the council, then we'd need their permission to work on this, and that doesn't impede any other works planned/taking place. If it's not the council, do you own the freehold of the land, or do you share this at all with a neighbour or another flat?

Thanks - access to my property is not a problem - the main junction box is on land presumably owned by the council down the road. Is there a way of finding out or chasing this?

you forget to mention the main reason is that nobody is interested and not bothered to ask for a permit

Since the OP has been a customer with a cable connection for 19 years, it's hardly likely that there is a wayleave issue.
