I've got a large local library of various media served through a raspberry pi that I would like to access remotely via a VPN running on another local pi.
This setup 'works', but from looking at things my up speed is around 1/10th my download speed at home..how would I get them to reach parity...even if only for a month while I'm on holiday.
This is more a VM package than tech question.
Most VM upstream connections are 1/10 of downstream, so you'd have to upgrade the whole package. They would only do that for a new full term contract.

Parity? No. That is not the way Cable (DOCSIS) Broadband works. It uses radio spectrum which is a finite resource, so will always be “loaded” toward download speeds where there is the greatest demand. VM do not offer symmetrical speeds except on the new XGS-PON networks that are now going live. Currently this is only available in newly cabled areas, as it will take several years to overbuild & migrate the existing customer base to the new technology.
