Help!

A powercut killed my brown box a week or so ago. An engineer came yesterday and confirmed this but he didn't have the spares on the van. Apparently they don't fit these brown boxes anymore either. He said he would inform his boss who would ring around the other engineers to see if they have one. Seems a strange way for a company as big as Virgin to conduct business but still.

Trouble is he left and didn't give me any idea when it would be fixed or the next steps or anything. I can't be without broadband any longer as I WFH. Any help in expediting would be appreciated.

    Knows their stuff

Killed brown box? For hybrid coax VM, that's just cable entry into the house and an isolator on the other side.

Are you RFoG network? If so, that could mean the optical to RF converter inside the outside brown box and engineer might not have had spares of that.

  • It sounds like the RFoG ONU has died, very poor from VM that they don't have their engineers equipped with spares.

Hi, thanks for replies. The engineer said they don't fit them like that anymore and that a white box is fitted inside instead. Like you say, poor that they don't carry spares. Now I'm in complete limbo as to when (if) they will do anything.

  • Engineer said it might be the power supply in the house too but he didn't have any of these either 😞
