Errors And Strange Speeds

We have a wired network connection. It used to connect to the router at 1Gbps. Now its down to 100Mbps and has been for a few days. I have also noticed some websites taking a while to load or not at all.

Just wondered if there is an issue with errors or another problem perhaps?

Had the engineer out today. First thing they said when they arrived were power levels were normal. I said yeah we had that before then they weren't. Lo and behold speeds dropped as he was here. They changed the bit outside the house, the bit on the inside of the house for the latest revision. Tested the cable. Went to the cabinet where an adjacent port was creating noise so changed that and still the same issues.

After a lot of testing he changed the Hub 5 for a new Hub 5, problem went away.

So far all good, the thousands of uncorrectable errors shown in the logs before are now zero have been since install so hopefully that will be that.

So after having the hub replaced all was fine for a bit but now seem to be back to the same original problems which are fluctuating speeds and connection issues. Here is the latest status from the modem :

The uncorrectable errors on the 3.1 downstream has doubled in a couple of days

Hey daveeeh Thanks for reaching out to us. 👋🏼

We're sorry to hear about the issues with the downstream. 😞
We've had a look on our end and the results are showing a speed above 500mb/s.

May I ask if you have used Ookla or speedtest.net for your results?
Are you able to perform them and share the results?
You can also setup a BQM graph so we can see where dropouts are here.

Let us know what they say.

      Kind regards,
      Ilyas.

    Hello,

It's not really about the download speed, its about the quality, the time its taking to do things, lag in games, lag loading videos or even websites. I have been speaking to someone by PM but feel like I am going around in circles now.

So on the 3.0 channels there is no uncorrectable errors

But I tried to explain to the person via PM about uncorrectable errors on the 3.1 channel and they have so far managed to not even mention them.

These are the uncorrectable errors on the 3.1 channel, going up by about 15,000 - 20,000 per day

That doesn't seem right to me. Should it be like that?

So I reset the router last night again.

This morning there are no post rs errors on the 3.0 but over 4000 uncorrectable errors on 3.1

    Are post rs errors normal?

      And today :

      3993388380 correctable errors

      33784 uncorrectable errors

In the space of 24 hours??

Hey daveeh, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.

I can see you are currently in PM with my colleague, please reach out to them if you need some more support.

Thank you, though I have asked in PM over 6 times now regarding uncorrectable errors and what is an acceptable rate and have been blanked. Received no reply at all to that question.

    3.0 has no post-rs errors

3.1 now has 75000 and counting and its only been up a couple of days

Engineer came out, replaced an isolator and replaced the line from the box inside the property to the router. Also going to get whatever team it is to monitor the box in the street for noise.

Uncorrectable errors after a few days now sitting at just 11. Far better than the thousands I was getting per day and so far no issues

Final update. Seems a lot better now, post-rs errors now stand at 13 which for over a week of uptime is perfectly accetpable as considering last time by now it was around 100000.

Websites seem better in general. Think the new line they fitted did the job
