does this outside box look ok

I am just checking all my VM conenctions as did not do that for years until I had issues.

Last thing, this is my outside box with the cable coming up from underground the drive from 1997, I got told the skinny one is for phone.   Then when I rejoined in 2013, the took the top wire from there and drilled in into the house.

I have been told this whole box needs to be changed, then got told its fine. Also is that exposed connection silver bit ok to get wet.   Can I also just remove the whole box as really I am only using broadband so one cable just goes in the house or do I have to keep that box, as it looks ugly. Will be repaint wall soon ergo need to know.

Just to make sure they actually do that as Im not going to be allowed to put a green box on the wall as it will damage the waterproof red paint, can you communicate this to the person coming directly by adding notes....reason I say this.

This connection has been like this for 10 years since those f connectors were changed

There have been various " engineer" visits since then where they have been asked to check everything eg cabinet connection, outside , inside connections (this is a simple cable under the drive, drilled into the wall no TV phone etc)

so WHY has no one spotted this before, they have looked at it and said its ok yet this is where out noise is coming from on the line, I know as I tested it myself so I am 100%

this has led me to phone VM and the women on the phone said " if you want to complain I have to close the complaint on the phone " hmm ok so she sent me an email to complaint about this being ignored and my connection being affected for years. Id rather not complain but get it fixed the way I want.

      Hi george1531,

Thanks for coming back to us on this. The box itself will be needed to ensure the cables and connectors are kept tidy and safe from the elements. If you're wanting to remove the box completely, this isn't something we would be able to do. You would lose your VM service.

You've mentioned in your thread that you have an engineer booked for today so have a chat with them and they'll be able to discuss your options.

      Thanks,

Ive noticed after not having any engineers needed for years, that recently , they have improved. Before they would come in, try to get out quickly without checking everything. Why? its only going to be a recall?

ok most customers blame VM for wifi issues and dont know much but some of us know exactly what we are talking about.

The guy who came today listened to what I said, agreed, changed the F connectors (peace of mind as I dont care if they are rustproof)   ...issue found,  f connector barrel was broke, noise when shook around.

bear in mind, we dont need a phd in networking to know, that this is THE MAIN connection in to the house so forget wifi and everything ,this bit needs to be 100% solid.

He waterproofed the connection, done 15m. Sorted.

sometimes customers need to educate themselves on the issue , not leave it to the engineer.

    ALL FIXED Im happy!

I did see the gel pack...Snap on , waterproof. Really good.
