Damaged old Virgin Media cable in house

I noticed the the old Virgin Media cable in the house is damaged with exposed wires and am worried that it is a health and safety risk. We are not with Virgin Media anymore. Would they remove the cable? Is it still live?

    Hello Leonienicola,

Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. As Cardiffman282 has advised, the cable isn't live and is safe to be handled. We wouldn't be able to send anybody out to remove the cabling, but you are free to remove it yourself.

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

  • Share some photos. The installation won't be live and should be safe to handle.

If the coaxial cable is connected to the cabinet's tap bank, which is probable even for ex-customers, then it will still carry current (although less than 2 A). An ex-customer should have the cable terminated at the wall socket with a 75 Ω terminator cap, after which you can remove the internal cables.
