Bought house but cannot get Internet due to previous homeowners account

Hi! 

I'm in a weird position and don't under stand why Virgin Media cannot set my account up 

I've bought a house on 29th of August 2025

I requested to set up Virgin Media on 3rd Sep with delivery for 6th Sep

I was told on 6th Sep that an account exists on the previous home owners name and they have refused to cancel it. VM is asking me to chase the previous home owner. I was also told if the account is unusdd for 3 months they can cancel it. That's too long for me to qait

Does virgin media not have a process in place that can address this common issue? 

I can see older threads but there is no resolution on it and people have waited months. I cannot afford to wait that long.

The previous home owner has no authority over this house anymore!
