Why can't I have Virgin Media?

Hi, last year I tried to get the all singing all dancing biggest full fibre package. Was promised many things by the sales team. But they was proven to be lieing. After a fight it was all cancelled.

Now a little bit of info. I live in a community that is on private land. So no underground work can or will be done by anyone. Our copper Internet comes via over land wires.

Now I have a pole in my garden with a UPP box which has 900mb full fibre to the box. But yet I cant get a connection to my property. Even an engineer says its easy and possible to connect. But yet Virgin say they can do it then cancel any agreements.

My neighbour tried last week, once again Virgin said its all possible, only to cancel his Internet with TalkTalk and then cancel his package of 150mb.

Common Virgin wth are you doing? We want full fibre and your promising it only to let us down and cancel our packages.

An answer would be nice.

Virgin only supply "over wires" in a Nexfibre area with XGS-PON.  Otherwise if you live in a HFC/RFoG area, i.e. co-ax cables, then I doubt if VM will do any work on private land.  If your neighbour  had Talk Talk, you might be able to get an Openreach supply from the telegraph pole.

Engineer said it was all doable due to UPP being brought out by Virgin. All that was needed was the properties if they wish to join VM to have new modems/boxes and to have signed up for a full fibre package.

Openreach have been spoken to no end of times and nope everythime. They are not interested apparently, their words, not mine.

UPP Broadband was taken over by Nexfibre more than a year ago, so if it's available from that pole it will be XGS-PON.

Yes quite possible. The engineer says its all doable with just a swap of the copper cable to a new fibre to property cable. And then get the equipment inside your home.

But yet VM are one minute saying yes we can sign you up then the next day just saying no with no answer why. That's what I want.

I have no other choices as OpenReach are not interested in doing the work and TalkTalk who im with now obviously cant do any infrastructure work.

  • Well for anyone who is on here and looking for an answer to my question with Virgin Media, join the club lol.

A few personal messages but no answer, seems that VM have no answer as I suspected. Glad I dont have to deal with them.

In short dont believe everything these companies say. I do honestly believe the engineer as they do tend to know what they are saying. As for the sales team, well they promise everything and deliver nothing. And then dont give any answers as lets be honest, they don't care.

Thanks Virgin for wasting my time and getting my hopes up.
