Why cannot I renew Contract with current package

I am currently out of contract. But it seems to be impossible to renew or create a new contract with the same package options I have at present. The online system appears to insist I upgrade something. I don't want to upgrade anything. My Internet line speed is at the maximum throughput of my ASUS router and I don't intend or need to upgrade that device any time soon and the M125 package is sufficient for my needs. And I want to continue with my landline - despite the fact that now being digital, it is probably more at risk of interruption than the independently powered old line. But heyho - that's progress I guess. So do I have to create a new contract by stopping my current out-of-contract use of Virgin Media and going back in via Uswitch or something similar? Seems like a counter-productive action - I may well see a better option.

  • Hi Micromet thanks for posting although we're sorry to hear of your concerns raised.

So it's not always possible to update your package online like-for-like, we'd advise that the best thing to do to update your package (even if recontracting like-for-like) is to call us directly on 150 / 0345 454 1111 and the team will do their best to assist.

    Many thanks

Just stay out of contract, and then you can keep exactly the same services. Might be pricy in the short term  but it gives you the freedom to leave whenever. VM don't like out of contract punters,  so they'll come chasing you with offers, not you chasing them 😉

Yes you can’t return as a new customer unless at least 90 days has passed.  Check the competition and leave if needed.  You may or may not get a better offer from retentions.  The downside is you will have to move your email elsewhere, but that’s not a problem really.  You would have 90 days before the mailbox is deleted.
