What happens if I cancel my o2 sim?

Hello,

I know similar questions to this have been asked before and the answer seems to be as clear as mud.

However, my circumstances are a little different as I'm not in a 'cooling off' period or under contract for a set amount of time, just 30 days rolling for both VM and o2.

So my question is: if I cancel my o2 sim what will happen to my VM package? I understand my Volt benefits (such as next tier broadband) may be lost but that isn't an issue for me.

I'm guessing since I've only got to give 30 days notice if they do significantly mess with the package or the price I can either renegotiate a new contract with VM or move to Sky. Is that correct?

Has anyone actually done this though? Most of the replies on similar threads seem to be from people making assumptions on what may or may not happen rather than from direct experience.

The only reason this is an issue is because we are moving to a rural location where o2 signal coverage is very poor and often there is no coverage at all.

Thanks

      Hi Akua_A,

Thank you for your reply. The only Volt benefit I make use of is the 1 gig internet upgrade from 600 previously and to be honest for what we do with the internet in our house 600 is more than sufficient for our needs.

So just to confirm, the price we pay VM will remain the same and so will our VM package other than our broadband speed (that was Volt boosted to 1 gig) will revert back to 600?

      Thank you.

To best explain this asha_bristol  Volt deals have both benefits and discounts applied to them because you have both O2 and VM services. When you break the agreement by cancelling the sim, there is a potential you will lose both the benefits such as double data but also the discount on the account. This means on the VM side, you would be left with a package without a discount which may affect your monthly bill.
