Unexpected charge

Hi, I’ve read a few posts about people who have recently signed up to virgin media not getting their bill credit. I’ve just checked my first bill and there’s and there’s an activation charge which when taking out the contract got told I wouldn’t have to pay, with this I was also told I would have a welcome gift of £80 bill credit which would come in to play after my first bill was paid. This doesn’t show on my online account and after speaking to someone on live chat they can’t see it either nor can they see the waiver for the activation fee. I called up the very same day of installation as the signal was very weak in the room I use most, I did ask the engineer to put the router in a specific place but it said it would be alright where it was, conveniently for him no doubt. I called virgin up to tell them this to which they said I could add a Wi-Fi booster for an extra £8 per month, upgrade my current deal for an extra £13 per month to get a booster free or to take out an O2 SIM card contract to get 1, unbelievable! If the guy would’ve put it where I asked in the first place then that would’ve been avoided. What do I do? Just pay the fee that I got told I didn’t have to pay, forget about the £80 welcome credit and buy a booster that I shouldn’t need. Aye okay!!! Can someone please contact me or I’ll be cancelling my contract.

    Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your package and account since you have signed up. The agreed upon credits should have been added to your account on your first bill, we can get that looked into further from here. Do you have any proof of the bill credit and the confirmation that your activation fees would be waived?

  • Hi Mark, no physical proof showing that exactly. Luckily enough the guy who came to my house and sold me the contract gave me his number, he’s looking into it apparently although it has now been a week with no change. Nothing been said about the signal strength either.
