Schrödinger's Retention Offer

Long story short:

We signed up to VM in March (new FTTP rollout).

Installed April.

No issues. Gig1.

Visit today from Youfibre rep offering us a good deal and to pay off our VM early termination fee.

Happy to take their deal - symmetric speeds, price difference negligible, bonus of a static IP.

VM emails to say "we're sorry you're thinking of leaving, before you do, check out our exclusive offer for you".

Would be silly not to at least see what the offer was, right?

Try to click the link. Nothing.

The link is dead.

Note: tried on different devices and browsers. Definitely a dead link in the retention email.

Decide to speak to retentions to see if they can advise. Nope, no offer.

Why VM? Why waste peoples time with an "exclusive offer" which doesn't actually exist?!

Deary me! Don't offer something then not offer it VM!

      Hi vmrf1 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear of the link not working for you. This can be down to a number of reasons, but so we can assist you we would need to bring you in for a private message, please look out for the envelope on the top right of your web browser or if you are using a mobile device, it will be located under your profile icon.

      Thanks.

We could say that about any ISP, not just YF ?

Some of VM's sales people have made these types of promises as well.

No it's not. Check the t&c's out at YouFibre. It's a standard thing. It's something like £300 they will pay off. A member of the family used it with VM and it worked. You just have to send in the final bill with termination charges.

Don't wanna take my word for it? See here then:

      https://support.youfibre.com/knowledge-base/article/contract-buy-out/

They've had a brilliant SYMMETRIC service with ipv6 and no in contract price increases and super low latency. If you need a routable IP address because you run home servers and stuff, its £5 for a static (or negotiate).

Recontracting customers can get new customer pricing.

Micha1978   That's a good spot.  EE have the same £300 limit, so guessing they may be the same?
