I have had 3 calls from a supposed non UK VM call centre telling me that my contract is up and they are going to keep on the same deal. The number is 020 3743 6972 and it is coming up as suspected spam. They know my name but then ask to confirm the address. I am a bit reluctant. After first call I rang VM and they said nobody had tried to call me ! Does anybody know if this is a genuine number / call.

No one can confirm that for you with certainty.
If you search that number online the overall rating is that it is a scam number.
A few posts report it as a genuine VM call but no one can tell you for sure based on the number alone due to caller ID spoofing.
VM outsources so many of its functions that it might be a sales call from a VM sub-contractor.
If you are thinking of renewing, you are best off placing a call to VM yourself.
VM have recently published an article which lists many of their call numbers, and the reasons why those calls may be made. Although as goslow indicated, numbers can be spoofed.

I am sure that sammers across the world will be grateful to VM for making public all of their numbers to help in the creation of future fake caller ID lists!
Point 5 in the "How can I tell if this phone call is a scam or phishing?" seems very similar to some of the complaints in topics on here describing conversations with an actual VM call centre!
