Promised money off 1st bill. Not appeared.

I was sold Virgin broadband and tv by a doorstep salesman who promised us £100 off our 1st bill. The bill has arrived and there is no money off! I have spoken to customer services over the phone a week ago who said they would get back to me but nothing has happened. Also got gig1 broadband, supposed to be upgraded to gig2 because we took out a phone contract. This hasn't happened, not even getting 1 gig. Usually around the 7-800 mark.

Not a good start is it. People said customer service was awful but I thought how bad cannot be!

If this isn't sorted i will cancel.

    Never buy anything on your doorstep. Especially not from Virginmedia.

    We're sorry to hear some things haven't been added to the account. When checking your pre-contract documents, this should show the £100 credit. Is this showing there at all? If not, do you have any documentation showing the £100 credit offer?

    In terms of the boost on your broadband, this would all depend on whether the package was set up as Volt. If you package is showing as Volt 1GB then as this would already been a boosted speed, so you wouldn't get a further upgrade. If you're showing as being on just Gig 1 (with no Volt mentioned) then a speed boost would apply once opted in to Volt through My O2. 

    Please check your get pre-contract documents and let us know if this differs to the contract you've you've received.

      OK so I have checked the pre - contract Info and it is actually the volt 500 we have which is boosted up to 1gig not 2. We are still only getting max 700mb though. (I'm fairly sure the doorstep guy told me it was 1gig boosted to 2gig with the volt. Lie number 1)

      Nothing on the contract about the money off the 1st bill. This was part of his sales pitch and to be honest if he is lieing about this I will cancel the direct debit and you won't get a penny off me.

      Thanks for the reply, and clearly it's not your fault but a bit of a joke that as a new customer I am already having to fight for things I was promised/lied to about.

  • I've cancelled the direct debit until this is sorted, if it isn't sorted I'll just leave it and go back to sky.

    Unless you have already cancelled the contract within 14 days, VM will chase you for the money including putting a default on your credit rating. 

    They are quite ruthless about this. 

  • This is what I have, Volt Gig1. So what speed should I be getting? I thought I should be getting doubled up to Gig2?

      Thanks for coming back to the thread.

      This documentation shows Volt Gig 1, so this is the correct speed you're on, it wouldn't double with Volt as you're already on the Volt speed.

      Relating to the alleged money off the 1st bill, I'll send you a PM to discuss further.
