Persistent Spam Calls from VM

For the past week or so I've been getting a call everyday from a line saying they're VM.

0800 052 8675

They first started off saying they're upgrading the network and want to talk to me about my package, make sure I'm paying the right amount.

Then tell me that my contract expires in 30 days and they're going to charge me £140odd quid.

Except my contract doesn't expire until Sept. 2026. I checked.

I've repeatedly told them to stop calling and they carry on.

I will be blocking the number, but wanted to see:

A. Is this a legitimate VM number?

B. Has anyone else been spammed recently by them?

    VM does list that number

as one of its own but you can tell nothing from caller ID alone as scammers can fake their number to look like VM.

Check you have marketing options turned off in 'My VM'.

Once you have done that, report silent or abandoned calls to OFCOM.

Report unwanted sales calls from a real person to ICO and scam calls to Action Fraud.

None of the reporting brings any direct benefit to you it just contributes to the overall stat's.

Unfortunately the pushy and aggressive 'sales' techniques used by the scammers are hard to distinguish from those used by VM agents, compounded by the fact that both come from overseas call centres.

Just block the number and ignore.
