Outgoing emails blocked, says that I am using scam content, pleae help.

My email account has worked fine up  to this evening when I tried to send an email to someone that I communicate with regularly. Incoming emails are fine.

When I tried to send the  email a  message came up stating that my message contained scam content, goodness knows why, I have never ever sent  spam email to anyone. I find this very disturbing. The email was not sent and I am unable to  communicate with anyone.

I am using my one and only VM email address as I lost others earlier this year.

Could someone kindly help. Thank you.

    Sorry to hear about the difficulties sending an email. Can we check a few things so we can offer further support? If you can please let us know; 

    1) If you are using our webmail service 👉 https://virg.in/webmail or a clientmail service (Such as Outlook or Applemail) 

    2) Is the message part of a large chain or round robin? (IE, are there multiple recipients copied in to the mail)

    3) Can you please try clearing all cookies and cache and sending the mail again? - If you get the same error please get a screenshot of this and let us know in this thread. We can then get back in touch to collect a bit more information or offer further support if needed.

      I tried sending an email this morning and it was fine, no spam content codes appeared, very strange as last night I sent two emails marked 'testing' to myself and they went straight into my spam folder.

      I clear cookies, cache regularly and do not use Outlook or Applemail, I have scanned my computer etc., and everything is fine, no security problems.

      I am still concerned as the email that I use is my Virgin Media account email address.

        Thanks for replying.

        Can we also ask when you are sending emails and they get marked as spam. Is this an excessive amount or just the odd one every so often.

        The reason we ask is, our webmail is intended for light use only and some customers tend to send bulk emails. This then gets flagged and marked as spam.

    It only started to happen yesterday, I do not  send  any bulk emails, I do  not send many emails at all, some days not at all.  I sent an email to a family member this morning and it went to their spam folder. I have had this email address for many years.

    I did try  sending an email to myself today and this arrived normally and did not go into the spam folder. All very strange but at least the 'scam content' message did not appear.# whbehn sending it.

    FWIW, frequent updates to the matching data used by spam filters is likely to have been responsible for this and will hopefully clear itself in 6, 12, or 24 hours; good to read that appears to have happened 

    FYI  when the problem persist then you will need to raise with forum team member here so they can correlate the unique reference shown in the Spam Content Found error message with the email team to determine the exact cause.

    NB  consider migrating away from Virgin Media Mail to benefit from:

    • not have to fear loss of email accounts when choosing a broadband provider; all your Virgin Media email accounts are deleted 90 days after you leave
    • better security, spam filtering, support, …
