One off payment to account

I have a monthly DD which varies according to the extra purchases I've made that month.  I want to keep the DD (so I know that I've paid the bill!) but I'd like to be able to reduce it occasionally as my other regular outgoings all add up to quite a lot.  Can I pay (let's say £100) as a one off mid-month from my credit card to reduce my VM DD that particular cycle.  Most months I wouldn't bother and the regular DD would be manageable. I know that I can change the date of the DD, but it's occasionally being able to finesse the amount payable that I'm interested in.

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.

You can make manual payments but you'll need to cancel the direct debit if the bill is already produced, otherwise you're essentially paying it twice.

Manual payments before the bill is produced is fine :).

Just for additional info - you can only change your Direct Debit date twice in any 12 month period.
