Never asked for Homeworks!!

Re-negotiated my broadband account today, only to find there is a partial payment of £3.33 owing on my account for Homeworks.  I did not ask for this!  Is there any way I can cancel it without having to spend an eternity on the phone?  Looking at previous messages, this seems to be happening a lot lately for some reason.

  • Hey Suzie60,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post.
I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your account at the moment, I would be happy to take a further look into this for you but would need to take a few details via private message to do so.

    Kind Regards,

Good morning.  Thanks for your reply.  Thought I’d get in early and contact VM first thing.  Spoke to a very nice lady called Gillian, who assured me that Homeworks has now been removed from my account, together with the outstanding £3.33.  When asked for confirmation of this, she informed me that nothing would be sent out to me and just to check my next bill.  So, fingers crossed!

  • I posted on here recently due to changing my package to broadband only and being charged for Homeworks (which I did not ask for).  This matter was sorted out (or so I thought) and the part-charge (£3.33) was removed from my account and I was sent a revised contract.  Today (6 November) I received my monthly bill, to find the £3.33 has reappeared.  Can anybody help please as I feel I’m going around in circles here!

I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your account at the moment, does your bill show that you have been charged for this or has it been credited to your account.

  •  A couple of weeks ago I changed my package including upgrading my box from an old TiVo unit to a V360.  All went well until last weekend when the V360 box malfunctioned and it wouldn't connect to hard drive (CS2002).  After a lot of hassle I eventually got a replacement V360 yesterday (07/12/2023).  However I also got a notification out of the blue thanking me for taking out HomeWorks.  Luckily I've managed to contact an agent today to have this item removed from my package and I will not be charged, in fact I will get a £5 credit to my bill.

Why is this happening? Is there a default in the system to add HomeWorks to anyone who changes their package and hope that they don't notice? At £9.99 a month it's a bit much to bring this in surreptitiously without any consent.

Virgin you need to get this sorted.
