Marketing consent

"Marketing consent" in MyVirginMedia keeps been turned off by Virgin Media sales people without my consent.

This kept happening, usually after sales calls where I say "no thank you" to the sales persons offer. They seem to interpret me not buying their sales pitch as an instruction to turn off marketing consent. I simply say that I'm not interested in their offer today. I have never told them to stop calling or to turn off marketing consent, and I have never been asked for my consent to turn it off.

And I am unable to turn it back on, website says "Sorry the changes you made were not saved, please try again later". I've been trying to turn it on for two months.

This violates UKGDPR. Please may you investigate.

Also, I complained about this TWO YEARS ago and the same issue is still happening.

  • Thanks for reaching out to us IssueResolution, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

    Sorry to hear of the issues experienced with the marketing consent seemingly being turned off without your authorisation.

    Let's see what we can do to resolve this matter via our private messaging function.

    Thanks,

      I spoke with John_GS via private message, and he turned off marketing consent without my permission or consent.

      >"Thanks. Security passed and we've removed you from marketing."

      He then denied that Virgin Media staff would ever turn off marketing consent without my permission, despite just having done it himself.

      >"It's not something an agent would ever do unless instructed to do so via a customer. "

      He seems unable to understand what I am complaining about, and just keeps robotically asking;

      >"Please can you advise how we can help you though overall as we have passed Data Protection?"

      Please may another forum team member pick up this thread because John_GS does not seem to understand the issue, and seems adamant that Virgin Media staff would never turn off marketing consent without the customers permission, despite having just done so himself.

      He said; "The answer will not change with him as what I have advised you is correct regarding the marketing preferences."
