Installation date confusing.

My installation was originally scheduled for the 16th, but on Friday I received a text saying it could be moved to the 5th of December and to reply “YES” to confirm. I did that, and later that day I got a confirmation text.

I booked the time off work assuming everything was sorted — but apparently not. When I checked the app, it still showed my installation date as the 16th.

Has anyone else had this issue? The VM helpline insists it was never booked for the 5th. It was a nightmare trying to get time off on such short notice, and I don’t want to take a day off unnecessarily… but knowing my luck, if I go into the office, that’s exactly when they’ll turn up.

VM's bungling installation processes are a regular source of complaint on the forum.

What is the appointment for? Do you need a cable installing to your home or do you already have a VM cable and the appointment is for a VM tech to come and install the equipment?

Agree with goslow  If there is any external work to be done, e.g. ducting, cable repull, then the 3rd party contractors work to their schedules.  There are many, many post here about dates moving to the right on a regular basis.  You may as well ask, how long is a piece of string in these cases.

You are entitled to compensation for any broken installation date, and every day that installation is delayed. Don't be put off with a small 'goodwill payment'. https://www.virginmedia.com/help/automatic-compensation
