I would like to cancel the TV side of my package as it hasn’t been very good

I currently have broadband and TV with Virgin. The broadband is brilliant but the TV isn’t very good. I’m looking to go to another provider to get my TV so would like to cancel the Tv side of the package.

i have spoke to Virgin and been told numerous things.

  1. I am able to cancel the Tv side of the package with no cancellation fee as I still have the internet with them. The internet would be £72 on its own but after the 30 days notice I should be able to call back and get discount to knock the price down.
  2. I can cancel but there would be a cancellation fee and the internet price would be £75 and it will have to stay at that until the end of the contract.

Can someone please explain in clear terms what is what?

As a matter of principle VM will not let you reduce the items in your package to save money. It's as simple as that.

Because they have no firm published guidlines on this you will get a different answer from every agent..

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Sorry for the confusion over this. Whilst we cannot cancel accounts or even partial accounts, we'll send you a PM so you're fully aware of what the next steps are.

    Hi mattc25_

What is the name of the actual bundle that you have? For example Bigger or Biggest Combo bundle, or Mega Volt , broadband and flexibe TV etc.

VM contracts are usually for either 18 or 24 months, and cancelling part of the contract normally removes any discounts that have been applied to your account (higher discounts are usually given if you take multiple products) and you have to pay the remainder of the contract for the product you are cancelling. This could mean you have to pay full price for the broadband product that you are retaining.

If however you have signed up for the broadband and flexibe TV add on ( you can't currently have more than one box) then the TV addon can be cancelled at any time by giving 30 days notice, and there would wouldn't be any early termination fee for that TV add on.  You would though still probably have to pay a higher price for the broadband service.
