Email offering special deal with a small increase!!!!

Hi folks

I received an email to renew my current contract for a small increase!!!! As mentioned not having to shop around.

However, on closer inspection the small increase works out at 40% rise……Hows a 40% increase small???

I have nearly 3 months left on my current contract when my discount expires and price would go up by 90%.
Going on some of the posts on the Community Forum I have absolutely zero confidence that this would be the exact same package.

I have begun the process of shopping around as I can not afford a 40 % increase.

  • VM's marketing team must all come from Zimbabwe where the peak month of inflation is estimated at 79.6 billion percent month-on-month, 89.7 sextillion percent year-on-year in mid-November 2008.

    On our wavelength

    Hi Harley,

I suggest you DO NOT renew with VM. We are having ridiculous issues now with them. After upgrading our ending contract on the 27th November through OUR UPGRADE PAGE (£41.12 when our current package is at £36) on a deal suggested to us on the upgrade page. We still havent had it go through and VM are trying to tell us it isn't a valid deal. I was online to one of the agents for nearly 2 hours the other day and after going round and round in circles he tried to sell us a different 'deal' which is £10 per month more than the one we are currently on. They do not value loyalty at all and we have been conned. Our latest bill (10 days after we ordered our upgrade) shows our initial contract in its 19th month and therefore almost double in price from £36-£68.

DO NOT RENEW!!! Even if you go for a deal that's on your upgrade page, they tell you to wait 14 days for it to go through and then try and sell you an even more expensive one than the one you're currently on.

      Thanks for your reply.

I am quite concerned about all the horror stories that I have heard. You’re right about the 14 days issues.
Looking at a good Sky deal.

Let’s assume you are currently paying £50 which, given your 90% increase figure at end of contract, will be going up to the full price of £95.

Your offer of only a 40% increase would take your price to £70 which would be a reasonable discount of 26% off the full price.

  • Hey Harley2017,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post.
I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your package change, we are unable to look into any package changes over the forums. I would advise you to call in on 150 from a Virgin Media landline or 0345 454 1111 option 1, 4 and 4 again, this will get you through to the contracts team who will be able to look into this further for you.

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

  • I have received another email with an offer to stay with the same package for a small increase in price!!!

Has anyone been successful with this?

There's been quite a few posts quoting (what sounds like) the same offer in recent weeks, but yours is the first time I've seen the actual offer.

If you are on Maxit-TV and use the inclusive TNT Sports, then be aware you are likely to be moved (as would be normal with a package change) onto the current Mega-TV tier. This does not include TNT Sports, and is potentially a flaw in the "same package" theory.

      Hi Japitts

Thats my point…….no one appears to have received the “same package”!
      Surely this mis-selling!!
Also the small increase is over 40%.
I am on what was the Ultimate Volt.

I went into my local O2 shop which now sells VM products but only for new customers….they have no contact with VM.

Maybe a Forum team leader could help explain these false promises.
