EDF

While I completely understand I am in a contract with virgin media until April 2026 the EDF I have been billed is absolutely frightening. 9th of December right before Christmas £249 to leave virgin media after years of loyalty.

having spoke to chat live etc and being told there’s nothing they can do i am just shocked. This company earns more in probably a second than I do in a whole month.

I am not sure where to turn to given the bill is so high.

What are the circumstances of you being charged EDF (should you wish to/be able to publish them on the public forum)?

If you are moving to an area in the UK not served by VM you may be able to get EDF refunded.

Loyalty has nothing to do with it, in fact it’s the reverse if you are leaving. All the terms and conditions for cancelling your contract should be on your original contract that you signed and also on the web site.

It’s pretty much the same for all ISP’s.  You have to buy out what’s left on the contract.  However some rival ISP’s will pay an EDF up to a certain point, e.g. £300 credit with EE?

  • Hey Mwoo1205, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear about your EDF bill.

If you do leave us whilst in contract there will be a leaving fee sorry, we are unable to waive these also.

As mentioned this could be paid off via a payment plan if you wanted this?

Also some providers will help towards this if you are going to a new one.
