Early exit fee from BT which VM promised to Pay

I left my BT contract early as the VM sales guy promised VM would refund the amount of the exit fee to me. Despite sending the proof of exit fee and following all his instructions, I haven't received the refund. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it?

We have seen this reported a number of times in relation to fly by night salesmen.

Let's hope you have the offer to buy you out of the previous ISP contract in writing.

  • Hi meyrjen,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

I'm sorry to hear there's a dispute regarding the refund.

I'll send you a private message now to take some more details.

Please look out for the envelope in the top right of the page and pop back to me when you can.

  • I've got the same issue, did you get it resolved?

      Hi Wood1

      Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of your concerns with your BT early disconnection fees.
Where did you see or agree to the deal with early disconnection fees for switching would be paid by Virgin Media?
If this was a door salesperson, have you the proof and documentation and follow their instruction? What was advised, please?

Thanks Carly. It was a telephone sales person who called after I obtained a quote to switch to virgin. I advised her that I was planning to wait until my current contract ended before switching but she advised that as long as the cancellation fee is below £100, Virgin would cover it and all I’d have to do is submit my final BT bill. I’ve got no record of her name but she sent contract documents to me whilst I was on the phone to her but they are just signed off as being from the Virgin team.
