Changes to Maxit channels?

I saw a report yesterday suggesting that Virginmedia were removing the TNT Sports channels from the Maxit package. Meaning you'd have to pay extra.

I've since read several more indicating that this is Virginmedia downgrading Maxit accounts. Especially when the customer comes to renew the contract

Has anyone else seen these reports or have a clearer steer as to what is happening?

Emails are being sent out to customers who have Maxit TV, & whom VM has detected (somehow) are not using the TNT channels. So if you use them on a regular basis as I do, you will not even get the email & will not lose the channels. This email invites these low or non users that if they wish to continue receiving the channels they must contact VM & they won't be switched off. You are only charged extra if the channels are turned off & then you ask to reinstate them again.

If you renew your contract you will be moved to Mega TV (Maxit TV is a legacy package & is no longer sold). Mega TV does not include TNT sports.

  • Hi

Tried posting this before but the post seems have disappeared. I saw a couple of news reports saying that when people on the Maxit TV package renew, they are finding the new package is missing the TNT Sports option which is currently part of Maxit.

This means they have to pay extra to get the sports channels back.

Can anyone advise if this is correct?

It's impossible to compare the packages that VM has with anything that they've had in the past.

I'd rather not believe that this kind of shady practice is true but you can't be too sure. And the VM site has started to prompt me to renew...It hasn't done that for a very long term.

    Thanks in advance
