Can't log in to Virgin Media

After linking back in July, this has just started to happen, logging into Virgin Media O2 ID takes me straight to the "link your virgin media account" page again.  When I try to link to the VM/O2 ID email address I get this: 

“We’ve found your Virgin Media account

However, this account is linked to an email address that’s different to the one on your Virgin Media O2 ID.

If you’d like to continue and link your Virgin Media account to your Virgin Media O2 ID, please confirm the full email address your Virgin Media account is currently registered to.

We’ll then send an email to that email address to approve the transfer.”

No amount of trying works.  How cab the link be checked?

I'm still getting notifications (and bills of course) sent to the VM/O2 email!! Numerous chats and calls but no effect
