Cable my street

Hi I'm just wondering if I could get some information if it's likely my street will be cabled in the near future? I noticed there's some cables being installed a street over and further back from there.

I've attached an image to show where they're being installed, we live between Wardle St and Sandal St and are all currently connected to an old bt cabinet and community funding an upgrade would cost us £5k through openreach even though there are fibre enabled cabinets within 20 metres and we live walking distance to the centre of manchester.

    I may be moving to a new property and looking to see if broadband and tv services are available, the postcode is: EH54 8ND

    Availability checker says not available but neighbours in front, behind and across the road can all get Virgin services.

    If it is because no cables have been pulled to the property would it be possible to get that done?

    Any help for the Virgin Media team would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi,

      I am asking about this again because I would really like to get VM services.

      I was in a private conversation with a member of staff about this back in February but she stopped responding and I never got a resolution or satisfactory answer.

      I have attached a screenshot of a map of the area and the two sets of properties, one of which I live, that do not have VM services are in the red box.

      All the other properties around can get VM, my neighbors across the round can get VM, just my little road can not.

      I would be great if someone from VM could get back to me on this.

        Hi MIloK, thanks for the message. 

        I have looked into this and can see that we do not service the area and there are no immediate plans to do so. 

        You and others n the street would need to regester your interest here

    Hi,

    I am only able to get a very slow connection on Sky and Bt around  56mb. I know that Virgin broadband is available 5 doors away from my home but the cable don't run any closer to my home than that (literally 30ft). Are you able to let me know if you are able to extend your services to my home? I live in B63 area (halesowen)

      Hi there, welcome to our forum and thanks for your post.

      Sorry to see that you are getting slow connections with other providers. We would love to have you join us. If the service is available 5 doors down I would recommend popping our sales team a call on 0800 183 1234 so they can send out a spotter. They can they advise if your property can be serviced.

    I am a Virgin Media O2 employee, and I will be moving home to a flat that is not currently in the VM service area --- I just checked with the postcode checker.  Could you please DM me so we can chat if cabling my flat is a possibility?  Many thanks!

  • I have been V customer for 13 years but have a new house.  

    I raised a request in October 2022 but received no response and have identified nearby Virgin properties - adjacent to footpaths etc 

    Thanks.  Happy to contribute to any cost.

        Good luck getting the call back, I've been waiting close to 4 months for a promised call back and I am closer to the cabinet than the street it apparently serves. 

        Appalling service by Virgin Media.

    Welcome and thanks for posting on our community forum. Currently we do not provide a service to the whole of the UK. 

    You can see if your property is serviceably or register your interest to join us here. If/when our services become available, you will be contacted. 

    Alternatively, you can call our sales team on 0800 183 1234, and if we haven't sent one recently, we will arrange a spotter to come and investigate the area and the property for serviceability. 

    Hopefully we'll be able to have you join us soon.

      I'm Aware not all areas have it, but with them digging up my pathway outside my house i thought you might have an update as i have registered

    there is a block of 5 flats. 3 are connected and 2 arent. why is that? 

    Can you share some insight as to why this might happen.

    So I am back to post in this topic again.

    I was talking to my neighbour, lives in the same street, same post code etc. I am number 6 he is number 11.

    So why am I back?

    The reason is they had a cable pulled to there property and are on your Gigabit broadband offering!

    Can someone get back to me again on this and run some checks for me.

      Welcome back. 
      Sorry to hear that you're still querying your properties serviceability. 

      Have you spoken with our new sales team to see if your property is now serviceable? They're available Monday - Friday this week between 8am - 8pm on 0800 183 1234. If there hasn't been a site survey recently, then this might be able to be request, but the new sales team will have that information to provide.

        Unfortunately my call seems to have been a waste of my time, just as it was previously.

        The gentleman I spoke with took my post code and said my property was "not serviceable"

        I explained about my neighbour at number 11 having a cable pulled and now getting your Gigabit broadband offering.

        He could not explain this and said he would ask about getting someone to pop out and do a site survey and asked if he could put me on hold whilst he checked.

        I was on hold for about half an hour and then the I was cut off!
