Being made homeless, yet still expected to pay cancellation fees

I spoke to virgin media today on the live chat to explain that I've been given a section 21 as the landlord is selling the property. The council are putting me up in a hotel on the 15th October as I'm going to be deemed homeless, but I was told I would still have to pay a ridiculous EDF which I simply can not afford! I'm going to be homeless which is through no fault of my own & obviously can't take the services with me, it's not like I just don't want to be a customer anymore! If I was being housed I would just move my services but they have no housing available. I have 4 children including 2 with additional needs & an 8 month old baby, I have enough stress to deal with without this! If other people can have their fee's written off, then I would hope the same could be done for me. I have been a loyal customer for a long time, have never missed a payment but unfortunately this is just something that's out of my control & I'm hoping you will help during this stressful time.

  • These s21 EDF situations are always a good test of Virgin Media Ltd's Better Connections Plan statement that

"Becoming one of the most ethical companies, globally, is the right way to do business."

Let's see if it passes or fails here.

  • Facing similar problem, being evicted next month 9th October and force to pay a large sum of money for EDF and I dont think I can afford that amount - I told the web chat person about my situation and seem like he does no care. I rather stay as customer than pay that large sum. Anyone can help please.
