Bailiffs

How do I find out if there is a second account at my address? My son is receiving phone calls from a bailiff company, who don't have our address but say that he owes Virgin money. This goes back years when doorsteppers tried to open another account here in my son's  name to get discounts but Virgin said not possible. We never received any equipment or even an account number so how has a "debt" been passed on? How do we sort this out?

  • Hi Gypsycat

Welcome back to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of your concerns. So it's not possible to open an account at the same address where there is one already active. We sometimes get issues when someone moves into a new home and the old homeowner/tenant haven't let us know they've moved out and left their account active. Then a new homeowner/tenant would like to take out services, but can't as there is already an active service.

Did your son have an account with us at another address in their name at all?

      Hi

No, he's never had an account and always lived here. We did have some people that came to the door a few years ago and they suggested opening an account in his name to get discounts but I don't recall him signing anything and we never got a set top box or router delivered for him. He got the first letter a couple of months after that saying he owed money but I checked and no 2nd account was set up. Didn't hear anything more but now he's getting calls from bailiffs. They don't have an address to send letters and don't appear to have an account number and he's not giving them any information. They do appear to be a legitimate debt collection agency though.

        Hello Gypsycat,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that your son is having with a Virgin account. Do you know if this is a media or mobile account?

        Kind Regards,
