I've informed VM I'm leaving VM end, paid final bill etc and have my leaving-date. I'm now trying to move to Vodafone and select the 'I have no broadband' option as I am not technically 'switching'? Or am I switching? Vodafone keeps displaying a 'something went wrong' message...so do I select the 'switching option'? don't want to open a 'can of worms' that sees me staying with VM a little longer and paying full-whack!
If you are using the One Touch switch via Vodafone then yes you are switching and they will make the arrangement with VM to disconnect you at the appropriate time.
It would have been best to do the one switch, whereby you have no contact with VM as Vodafone do it for you. With you doing the VM cancellation yourself it may cause confusion.
With OTS the gaining provider (Vodafone) puts in a cancellation request to the losing provider (in this case VM) but the cancellation request from Vodafone can't be actioned as there is already a cancellation marker on the VM connection (account)
If you want to use One Touch Switch then you need to cancel the cancellation request that you placed with VM.
There isn't 30 days notice period applied with the One Touch Switch process, however if you’re still in your minimum term period, then you will still have to pay an early termination fee.
As part of the Switch process once the gaining provider has got in touch with the losing provider then the losing provider will then send information to the customer about leaving their contract. This includes info about the final contract date and any fees that might be owed for leaving early.
The problem was with the Vodafone website. Every time I submitted 'proceed' it would come up with an error message. So, I submitted the 'switching' button (even though I've previously cancelled my contract with VM) and now I keep receiving emails/ texts from VM regarding 'a switch' even though I've previously cancelled my contract. I have now successfully placed an order with Vodafone (non-switch) but I'm worried VM keep my services on, without contract. (The final VM bill was received last week or so and contract due to end this week)
I gave the obligatory 30 days notice to cancel ALL my services and leave my Virgin Media contract. (see image)
I received my closing bill
My online account notified that all my services (broadband, TV and landline) had indeed been disconnected
That’s it, I’ve left!
…Or so I thought. Just two days later, I receive an email stating ‘your latest Virgin Media Bill is ready!’. Virgin Media had kept my phone-landline on - and charged me full ‘out of contract’ price for it. (A service I never, ever, ever use by the way and had no idea it was still switched on)
My message to you here: if you are thinking of leaving Virgin Media, don’t just rely or believe that they will accurately reflect what is happening with your orders via your online account, or ‘lack of’ email communication. It may create a false sense of security.
It’s as if they wanted to purposely ‘trick me'(?); to make a financial hit before I left and punish me?Be prepared. It’s upsetting to even think they’d do such a thing as I am an older customer having been with them for some 25 years but what else am I to think?
