Solved

Advise requested on cancelling my "out of contract" VM account.

Hi Forum

I've been with VM since the days of NTL, and have constantly been disappointed by the difficulty speaking to a human operator who will assist with my questions.

Would be very grateful if a forum member, Virgin Media contact or other poster could advise me of a simple course of action that will allow me to leave Virgin Media with a minimum of fuss, and certainly not the trauma suffered by many previous and current posters here.

Thank you, in advance

W  A Cooper

  • If you simply wish to cancel, with no further negotiation or discussion with VM …

You can cancel your services by post as per info below

    https://www.virginmedia.com/help/leaving/

You can send your leaving request by post to:

    Virgin Media, Sunderland, SR43 4AA

Use a first-class, tracked delivery service. This will give you a date/time of delivery when you gave VM your 30 days’ notice to cancel. Also keep a record of the tracking number. I have found that RM signed-for services are a dead loss these days and rarely get a signature so use a service that tracks and confirms delivery.

Alternatively, if you are moving to a new service provider, you could consider using the new one touch switching (OTS) process. The relative merits are compared below in another topic

The example above was for someone thinking of moving to EE but the principle is the same for other providers too using OTS

The twice I have left VM I did it by recorded letter and had no problems with this method.  Just make sure all the relevant information is noted on your letter.

If you just want to leave, the best way is to sent a recorded delivery letter to

    CANCELLATION:
    Virgin Media,
    Sunderland,
    SR43 4AA

Make sure you include all of your contract details.

If this is your reply, then this is not simply "solved". The solution to my leaving is given, and I still expect to use it, I'm grateful for it. VM Customer Service is execrable. I pay too much, and it appears that I'll be losing Eurosport to TNT. Check out our viewing to see why this irks me. Tell me why I shouldn't leave for another provider. I'm NOT doing this conversation by telephone.

If you wish to leave jandacooper that is your decision. The channel provider has chosen to stop broadcasting Eurosport one and Eurosport two in the UK from 28th February. This means the channels will no longer be available, however Virgin TV customers can continue to enjoy Eurosport content via a TNT Sports subscription.

Your bill will not change directly as a result of the channel closure. While the channels will no longer be available, Eurosport content will still be accessible via TNT Sports should you wish to subscribe, you will not be able to cancel penalty free as a result of the channels closing.
