50% increase in bill. WE JUST CANT AFFORD IT.

I will not be able to pay 60pounds per month. We are in our 60s and i only have a low pay job.

We are both sad and upset at the 50% increase and do not agree with this.

  • Is your 18 month 'minimum term' discount (or some other discount) coming to an end which has caused the price rise?

If your minimum term is finishing, you need to ring up VM, if you want to stay with VM, and renegotiate a new package price for another minimum term (keeping in mind the new annual prices rises that will apply on a new minimum term).

If VM fails to come up with an acceptable offer for renewal, you should be thinking about what your alternatives are with a view to putting in your 30 days notice to cancel and moving to another provider.

  • Hi Steve1874 👋 welcome to the community! Thank you for posting.

Sorry to hear these concerns regarding your package cost. As the community have correctly picked up with you already, this may be due to your agreed contracted term coming to an end. This means any discounts applied for your fixed term will come to an end. All you need to do in this scenario is get in touch with us so we can look into alternative package options with you and see what is available to improve your price!

We sadly do not offer support with this via community as it is best done in real time - due to the contract documents being generated, and some limited time offer availability.

We would like to help get this sorted though! If you can please get in touch with the team so they can look at available options with you via  👉 https://virg.in/contactvm 📞0345 454 1111 or 150 from a VM landline & WhatsApp 📲+447305 327 112.
If following this you still need support please update the thread to reach out and we will do our best to help.
Wishing you all the best! 🌞

Only two things to add to the replies thus far.

1: All your monthly bills, and your contract, will show the undiscounted price of your package and details of any time-limited discounts.

2: Part of an ideal renegotiation process includes pricing up your combination of services from alternative suppliers. Having those facts & figures at your disposal for comparison purposes, will put you in a much more prepared position when you call VM retentions.

I presume you are a broadband-only customer, but VM is not a cheap broadband provider. If you are coming to the end of your contract, find another ISP. A glance at options from moneysupermarket.com shows several, including NOW for 63Mbps at £24pm (plus £10 setup fee) with PAYG phone on a 12-month contract.
