Problems with forum

I have had problems accessing the forum over the last two days; I find myself now able to access posts.  My ID stated that I "didn't exist", nor could I access anything on the forum.  I went surfing the forum in circles,   Under the settings section there are 12 different IP addresses (some internal beginning with 10, others with 81, 82 and one 193).

This leads me to think (ask) of the following:

  • has the forum been hacked?
  • is there a data breach?
  • have I done something wrong or posted stuff that is objectionable?
  • (as mentioned elsewhere) a bug with CloudFlare (as I get the occasional 502 bad gateway error)?
  • is it bugs or errors in the forum software?
  • is it a Windows problem?
  • am I being stupid?
  • all/none of the above.

If it were bugs or errors in the software, I presume they have now been fixed as I can now make posts again.  Any comments, help etc are welcome.  Cheers.

The strange thing IMO is that while some of the original defects do seem to have been addressed, they keep getting replaced by new ones.

As I log in just now, the notification bell shows new notifications and, when accessing it, it shows every single notification has been reset to unread.

'Fortunately' a further long time defect means that clicking one notification resets every notification as read.

I have also noticed that when I click on a notification (e.g. for a 'like') it shows me a certain number of replies above the post (9 in the example below)

but when expanding the topic there was actually only 2 real replies on the topic

I have noticed something similar in the past where viewing the topic when not logged in does not show all of the topic replies unless I log in, when everything is shown.

With a known set of issues it is usually possible to find workarounds but, when the problems are ever-changing, trying to use the forum is just an annoying trial of endurance trying to get things to work.

The thread being marked as resolved only helps VM to ignore these defects.

As we approach 5 months of using this new forum, I think we might have to accept the sad fact that the never-ending technical glitches on here are not going to get any better any time soon.

I used to get the "Unexpected Error" quite often, but again this has disappeared recently.   It happen both on the phone and laptop browsers.

Folks @ VM  I'm really very bored with a forum defect that occurs during typing a response,
the web page suddenly refreshes and the session has Signed Out.

It is defect that I see in Firefox and in Edge.

I had this issue about a week ago, but it has since disappeared. The message could not be found error was easily bypassed by forcing the thread link to open in a new tab.

I've not had any of these issues at the moment thankfully.  Using Edge and it's set to clear everything on exit.  Don't know if that has any bearing?

Today I have also had a similar message the stated my user a/c did not exist, this occurred immediately after login, pressing F5 to refresh cleared that & displayed the forum pages.

The message below has been seen twice in a short period :-

Note the "Access Denied" displayed on the two tabs of Edge.

These errors were displayed when trying to read a thread and again on selecting Sign Out.

Forum is now working properly (at least it is for me) as of Thursday 10-57AM. I'm gonna mark it as resolved.  I'm able to make posts and the reply/update buttons are back.  Thanks for the replies.  Cheers.

Yes, this is what I keep getting.  Refreshing the page does get rid of the error.  There was also a 90% drop in download speed, and a 50% drop in upload speed.  This seems to have stabilised now and I'm getting 130Mb+ upload and 21Mb download.
