I wrestled with that useless router for 12 days then finally pulled the plug within the 14 day cooling off period. I will keep an eye on this forum in the vain hope that a different, working, terminal/router comes available. I think Virgin made a mistake here, they implemented a new system with a crippled router not realising that early adopters are going to be tech savvy people for whom the Hub 5x box is entirely inadequate. I found all the phone support people very helpful and they tried their best but they were completely unaware of the Hub 5x, they were even unaware of the existence of special support group if it really exists. It looks as though Virgin were completely unprepared to support this new network. I am not prepared to do their system testing for them, I have been through a similar process before and it never got resolved satisfactorily. I wish all of you who are sticking with this the best of luck. Re: The New 5x Hub (different than the standard 5Hub) Hi @The_Tonner Thanks for that. The specialist team you mention, is that by calling the Virgin help line up and asking for them or is that some kind of menu trail you have there. I am not worried about the Wi-Fi service as I can fix that by putting my very expensive router into access mode and loosing 90% of it's functionality, not an ideal solution. No it's all the other normal router configuration options that I am unable to access that is my problem. Oh by the way how do you get that active link in the "Hi @username" at the start of your post, is it just an inserted link with the user url copied into it or is there a trick? Re: The New 5x Hub (different than the standard 5Hub) Hi @Tom_W1 No, it is what it is. But that is the least of my problems. With the 5x hub being almost unconfigurable I will not be able to get my network the way I want it untill I can get modem mode working. Re: Definitive Guide to setting Modem Mode and recommended routers No afraid not. Looks like I spoke too soon and committed the cardinal error of opening my big mouth before testing was completed. It seems the only bit of modem mode in the 5x firmware is the page itself there doesn't seem to be anything behind it or if there is it is not activated by this page. It just steadfastly refuses to connect to Virgin. Re: The New 5x Hub (different than the standard 5Hub) I have just been connected to VM fibre and have spent the last two days trying to get my network up again. This 5x router is not fit for purpose. I cannot change the ip address, I cannot put it into modem mode and the wireless signal is so weak I cannot bridge it. As far as I can see I will have to cancel my subscription as about 90% of my network is unusable. Re: Definitive Guide to setting Modem Mode and recommended routers If you have the new 5x hub there is no modem mode option in the menu. In this case type in the address :- 192.168.0.1/?page=modemmode and continue from step 4.
