Im currently moving them folder by folder in VM webmail by 1- emptying my current inbox ( I created another folder- Misc -and moved everything into it ) 2- selecting one of my folders and moving everything in it to the inbox 3 - waiting for them to load onto another platform (Gmail in my case) 4 - creating a label/file in Gmail and once downloaded into Gmails inbox - moving them to the new label. 5- going back to webmail and moving the inbox (the moved folder) back to the folder Im about half way through doing this, once completed, Ill move my Misc folder back to the main Inbox.... Phew, there is probably a simpler way but as Ive said before, Im no techy and Id rather do this tedious task than be in the same position again. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Polly bear I too am a novice so cant help you much - but I did ensure the folders were all ticked and refreshed - wasn't sure if it made a difference to my retrieval, but I do have everything back now. It was just a suggestion that I thought may do it...... sorry if you're still waiting..... Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Pollybear I really am no expert, but maybe this response from another post in this thread may help you...? You may need to re-subscribe to IMAP folders in your Webmail........ Go into Web Mail, then Settings (Cog Icon at top right)-> Email->Change IMAP Subscriptions… https://mail.virginmedia.com/appsuite/#!!&app=io.ox/settings&folder=virtual/settings/io.ox/mail Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 54Gazza wrote: It seems like some progress has been made overnight as I now have my inbox and sent items prior to the outage. However, no sign of any of my folders which is the most important thing for me as I like to organise my inbox into folders. Interesting that all along Virgin were talking about restoring the 'inbox' and 'historic emails' but thinking about it no mention of folders! Looks like I'm going to spend all day trying to get through to the helpdesk Hi Hope this helps but on this thread, I have been referring to lost historic emails which included anything stored in folders. Although I had been able to send and receive emails after 19th June, nothing in any sub folder (sent, deleted, personal folders) were visible. I have now, thankfully, had everything restored and I have backed it up to Mailstore. However what Ive learnt (and I don't know much about these things) is that the emails stored in the folders and sent, are on the IMAP server and anything in the current inbox is on the POP server. I know this because my new gmail account has only retrieved emails from the POP server and hasn't got any of my folder contents which are the important ones I need.....Im still working out how to get my folders to show in Gmail, but maybe some one more techy than me can make sense of the server difference and the implications....... Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 HI jb3010 I had to ring them as the website wouldnt let me raise a complaint as Im not on their system as the primary account holder (I AM though!!) Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Thats interesting, as I filed a formal complaint last week about the loss of historic emails and I now have them all restored as of yesterday...... Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 HI 73lee Im one of the lucky ones as my historical emails appeared yesterday.......Im definitely no techy, but Ive managed to use Mailstore to download all the emails from VM webmail and it was relatively easy using my ntlworld.com address. All I would say is clean up the webmail before you back up to Mailstore.....10,000 emails were backed up including deleted stuff and emails that were sitting in my inbox that I had forgot to delete. Im now cleaning up both the webmail and the back up !!!! Lesson learnt, now giving out a gmail email address and working through informing organisations of my new email. Sorry VM, but I have lost confidence with you and my faith in you gone, I will not be afraid to look elsewhere now after being with you for nearly 20 years.... Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 HI jb3010 Ive been checking on the hour and just gone to look and they are all there again- in folders I created, in the sent box, everywhere..... Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Ive just checked my webmail and Im so happy....all of my historic emails are back!!!!!.....Im so relieved. Ive since made a gmail account and will never rely on the webmail again for all my important documentation. As I was told earlier today, be patient a bit longer and hopefully you will get them back too. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 I really am confused. my partners webmail is working absolutely fine, all historical emails are there, in his inbox and folders and sent . He has an ntlworld.com email address like me, but is listed on the account as the primary account holder. I am noted as the secondary account holder even though I AM the main account holder......I am thinking if this is coincidence and as I am listed as a secondary user, I am way down their priorities as he doesnt seem to have been affected????
