I am still waiting for the extra money to be returned. The last date I was given is still over three weeks away. At that point Virgin Media will have had the overcharged money in their account for six weeks. I have reported this to Ofcom but they "do not deal with individual cases". If anybody has any experience of going completely through this process, perhaps they could let us all know if they finally settled with VM. Any help and suggestions would be welcome. Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Hi Gareth_L I called Virgin Media to query the bill and they were not very helpful. The full amount for next month was taken from my account. I am not sure why this "sounds like everything is okay". Taking money for services that VM know they will not and can not be provide, as they are after disconnection, is extremely bad customer service. Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Another couple of things to be wary of ..... When your phone number is ported to your new supplier, Virgin Media's telephone system will no longer recognise your landline number which causes the call to disconnect if you enter it when asked to. Added to that, you can not call for free any longer as 150 will no longer work as you do not have a VM landline any longer. So, you also have to pay to call and query the unauthorised money taken from your bank. I still have not received a "final bill" and I am still £55.48 (one complete month) lighter in my bank account. Reported all this to Ofcom but they do not deal with "individual cases". I also noticed Ofcom started their enquiry into Virgin Media in July 2023, so why is this still happening to people ? Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Thank you to everybody who posted information. Just a quick update. My account finished to day with Virgin Media. On the same day they have taken a full month's charges from my account to cover the next month. When I spoke to a lady at VM she could not understand why I disagreed with this. I informed her of the conversation I had with another person at VM regarding this might happen and that I was told "you will not have to pay that bill". She just didn't seem to understand why I was querying the money VM had taken - for a full month's service that I have cancelled and as a result, can not be used. You couldn't make this up. Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Hi Alex_Rm When do VM send the "final bill" ? Why is none of this documented in any correspondence ? Thanks for your input. Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media This makes for interesting reading if anybody else has problems leaving Virgin Media. Ofcom investigates Virgin Media over customer difficulties cancelling contracts - Ofcom Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Thank you your reply. I have already been billed for a full month at full price past the disconnection date. Why must a pay anything for the period following disconnection ? After being a customer for such a long time, I expected better of Virgin Media. The person I dealt with told me I had been a customer for thirty-one years then didn't even apologise for "bad service" being the reason for leaving. I had to insist on everything being put in writing but just received a sketchy email instead. Perhaps if Virgin Media treated people properly, they may find customers more willing to return if things don't work out....... Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media Just an update. I cancelled Virgin Media to finish on 16 May 2024. Virgin Media have now billed me in full from 17 May until 16 June. This is why I asked for any tips when leaving Virgin Media. Re: After 25+ years I've submitted my cancellation Hi there. I am about to go through the same process of leaving Virgin Media. After being with them since they first arrived in our area, I am tired of being treated badly and overcharged. Added to that I have a fault with the landline and broadband that they have not repaired, I think it is time to leave. Do you have tips or experiences with the cancellation process ? Many customers report that it can be a difficult process and I am trying to prepare to exit as smoothly as possible, without paying for any more time with VM than I have to. Any help and suggestions would be welcomed. Many thanks and best wishes. Re: How To Cancel Virgin Media I had already found that page but after reading others bad experiences, I thought I would the question 😀 Notice periods seem to be a problem for many people....
