Hub 4 in modem mode with gig1, pfsense router. Getting line speeds over the 6in4 tunnel Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Annoyingly they can still call it fibre because its Fibre to the Cabinet so the majority of the journey of the connection is fibre. I cant wait until city fibre is available in my area, which hopefully will be soon Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media got to put it in my calendar to remind me Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media deffo agree Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media This, it's a step backwards in terms of IPv4 connectivity Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Virgin already has 2 IPv6 prefixes and they have IPv6 implemented under the hood so they have already went through all the work to set it up. Its just DHCPv6 appears to be firewalled off, i see router advertisements on the WAN interface of my router but they have the managed flag set. I see no reason why VM hasn't rolled out IPv6 Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media glad to hear the install went smoothly! looks like city fibre isnt in my area, if it was i would probably try to convince my mother to switch ISP so one through it. when i eventually get my own place and if its available i will most likely be going for an ISP that uses city fibre. Does look like it is planned to be in my area though so thats good to know. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media nope no IPv6 (even after 12 years of this being open) and no clue when (or even if now, apparently) its going to happen Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media "if"? VM is going to have to deploy IPv6 at some point, likely sooner rather than later, there already is IPv6 infrastructure but it appears like DHCPv6 is firewalled off so you dont get prefix delegation, i really do wonder what the hold up is for IPv6 deployment Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media TonyHoyle wrote: I'm sure not even VM would be silly enough to attempt dynamic ipv6.. it's completely unnecessary and almost nothing would support it - you can't go around renumbering your entire network every day. this is virgin media we are talking about here
