I have had my Blueyonder address for many, many years and what Virginmedia fail to realise is it's literally the only reason I stay with them because 90 days after leaving, they delete the account permanently. I could save £100s a year but I stay because of the email address.... After this latest outage I realise there's no choice other than starting the process of giving all my contacts my Gmail address. Once this is done, I'll have no reason to stay with Virginmedia and will change broadband provider.
